Reminiscence of 2012
Monday, January 07, 2013 9:19:00 AM

It is still hard to believe that so much have taken place in a short span of a year.
2 Semesters have taken place, and every passing semester felt like a year long.

I have indeed led a very eventful year this year.

TH Twisters (Feb 2012)
Training together despite everyone else's injuries.
Cheer performance with Twisters at IHG closing.
Cheer with its politics and fundraising sessions.

Chingay performance. (Feb 2012)

FASS OCIP (January - July 2012)
Fundraising madness for OCIP with our Garung Guni sessions and sales at the benches.
Study sesssions at the Fishtank with the OCIP people.
Programmes team meetings all over the school.
OCIP local projects.
OCIP trip in May.

Worrying about having not enough points to stay in hall for Year 2, and then all that trouble with the location, finally ending up back at E.

Working as a telemarketer for my aunt and dreading work everyday till I got *ahem* dismissed.
At least I know that I will NEVER want to work as a telemarketer again, EVER.

Camp madness with 4 camps and 1 pre-camp (June-July 2012)
Councillor for Arts Camp, Rawkeye.
Crashie councillor for Econs Camp, Pokemon.
DND attache for hall camp, Succo.
Councillor for Arts O Week, Rabba.

Starting the Sem with new faces in hall, and missing the old E2/4 girls.

TH DND (July - September 2012)
Remembered the filming sessions for the intro video, the long bus rides down to collect the costumes myself when no one was free, rushing around to find the stuff for logistics, going through a very hectic bash night, hating the bash soundtrack after bash from listening to it for so many times, settling the logistics for DND but yet being unable to be there for the event itself due to family problems. And then feeling lost after everything ended.

THearts (Sem 2)
Planned for our blood donation drive with my BD team. And it was the first time I've ever been to one, though I wasn't brave enough to donate my blood. Maybe 2013?

Floorball (Sem 2)
For someone who has not played ANY sport before, it was totally a new start. And to be given a chance to even step foot into the court during IHG 2013, was a really new experience. And for that, I am thankful. Though I still get that nagging feeling that I do not fit anywhere into the category of sports and its people, at least I got to try.

E2/4 cum current E2 Girls
Nua and HTHT sessions, manicure, cup noodle sessions, birthday surprises, shouting along the corridors, retarded moments, growing closer to some while others are further away from reach. Nevertheless, to both the older batch and the current batch, thank you for being such awesome neighbours and the core of my hall life.

First night cycling session in my life.
And quarreled with my parents for that. But I'm glad I fought for what I wanted for it was worth it.

Cruise trip with the family (Dec)

Taiwan Trip with 14/09 (Dec)
I'm glad we managed to have our trip in the end, after speaking about it ever since we graduated from JC. Really appreciated the guys planning the whole trip for us and being there to bring us around. And I was really happy that everything felt like it has never changed, despite not seeing each other for so long. We're still that class from 3 years back with classmates who love to tease each other, who can't remember PW group members of each group for nuts, who love to sing K, etc. Such are friends I would treasure for a lifetime, including those who didn't go for the trip.

TG
Various meet ups throughout the year to catch up with the girls. Glad that I managed to meet up with most of them at least once in 2012 despite my poor attendance (which I don't actually find my attendance poor, taking into consideration that those in NTU get to meet up more often than the rest of us?), due to everything else. And tbh, I was really touched by the individual efforts to keep in touch such as via FB message, asking for individual meetup and then buying a cupcake for my belated birthday celebration, or sending a birthday card to show that she didn't forget what was impt despite missing like 101 outings. It's really heartwarming to know that even when everyone becomes busy, or even when not everyone has watsapp, these girls make an effort to show that no one gets left behind. 8 years of friendship and counting! (:

Knowing them must have been one of the best things that happened to me in uni. Birthday celebrations, simple meet ups for dinners, steamboat and mahjong session etc. It's really comfortable to be around them and not to be clique-ish or anything, but I'm glad this small clique was formed.

All in all, I'm really thankful to have met everyone in my life and I shall embrace the challenges of the new year. As mentioned, the new year resolutions for 2013: to learn to appreciate and to learn to trust. Of the two, learning to trust would be the harder one to achieve for being one of caution, I tend to build walls to guard against people so that I will not get hurt. And that means shutting half the world out. On top of those two, I guess I'll have to learn to love too.

So, goodbye 2012 and welcome 2013!

Okay, I'm probably not making sense anymore. Goodnight.
