The Climb

What does it feel like to be a beetle trying to escape the sink?

Too heavy to climb up the steep slope of the sink, yet too big to fall through the holes of despair.
When one turns on the tap, water gushes through and pushes it down from where it has climbed from. It was stuck in the sink and the only thing it could do was try to climb out of the sink.
People like us constantly provide it "obstacles" and disregard its existence. Switching on the tap whether or not we knew there was a beetle there, or knowing it was there yet using the same sink to brush our teeth, spitting toothpaste all over it, washing our hands with soap using that sink, and even intentionally trying to drown the beetle by continuously holding the tap. This beetle had no wings, or probably lost its wings somehow, and was relying on all six legs, trying really desperately to climb up the slippery sink. Imagine how easy for a kindhearted someone to pick it out of the sink and leave it somewhere else.

But then again, life isn't that easy and because people are too lazy or selfish to dirty their own hands with such small matters, the kindhearted someone never appears and the beetle has to keep climbing or eventually give up and drown in the sink.

And then we compare this to our own life. It is true that similarities can be drawn from our own life and that of the beetle. A goal, many obstacles, hard work, effort and perseverance, and if you're lucky enough, help might come. And then the result: make it or break it.

The climb doesn't have to be something big like climbing a mountain or becoming really successful in life. It could just refer to a small improvement on our part, or like the beetle, climbing out of the sink.

Unfortunately, I don't quite know what happened to the beetle and to be honest I was one of the culprits in trying to drown the beetle. :X
But thanks for inspiring me!

"Don't give up and keep climbing!"
That would be my main takeaway for today, because I'm sure we'll make it there someday.
